Pelco Security Camera AV2100 User Manual

Release Notes
Arecont Vision IP Cameras Supported on Digital Sentry
Integral Digital Sentry® digital video management systems (DVMS) support certain
Arecont Vision IP camera models. The camera models listed in this document can be
used with Digital Sentry IP camera driver version 6.8.0.126 and later. Refer to each
camera’s table for information about the hardware and software features validated for
use on a Digital Sentry system. Any general limitations or special instructions are listed
at the beginning of the document, and any model-specific information is listed after each
table. For information about the general usage of each camera, refer to the camera
manufacturer’s documentation.
To obtain the latest IP camera driver or documentation for use with Digital Sentry, refer
to the Pelco Web site at www.pelco.com.
General Arecont Vision IP Camera Notes
• Frame rates are rounded down to the next valid value listed in the tables. For
example, if the requested frame rate is 7.5 frames per second (fps), the camera
provides 7 fps.
• The frame rate requested might not match specifications in the camera
manufacturer’s documentation.
• Camera resolutions configured in DSAdmin must match resolutions supported in this
document.
• Always stop the Digital Sentry VideoServer service before running the Arecont Vision
AV Manager application. After AV Manager configuration is complete, change the AV
Manager server startup type to Disabled (LMSrv), and then restart the VideoServer
service.
• Digital Sentry cannot function properly while any Arecont Vision application is active
on the same system. Check the system tray to verify that Arecont Vision applications
are not active.
• Using Integral motion detection decreases Digital Sentry performance because of
increased CPU usage, especially at higher resolutions. It is recommended that
In-Camera motion detection be used at higher resolutions.
• Frame rates could be reduced as resolution and quality settings are increased.
• Arecont Vision cameras cannot be dual-homed. That is, they cannot be streamed to
two Digital Sentry systems or applications simultaneously.
To provide a stable camera environment, make sure local or Power over Ethernet
(PoE) power meets or exceeds the requirement of the camera used.

NOTES:
To capture images larger than 2 MP, you must install Integral IP camera driver 6.7.0.5
or later and then Megapixel Support for DS Server/VAU 4.1. To obtain a copy of all
necessary software versions, go to www.pelco.com.
To view images larger than 2 MP, you must install Megapixel Support for DS Client/
Admin 4.1 and DS ControlPoint 6.5.1.28 or later. To obtain a copy of all necessary
software versions, go to www.pelco.com.
• Short communication delays (2–3 minutes) could occur when you use Digital Sentry
to change the configuration of AV3100. The number and frequency of delays can be
decreased by combining multiple configuration changes into as few groups as
possible.
• In-camera motion detection on AV3100 is less sensitive at lower resolutions. It is
recommended that Integral motion detection be used at lower resolutions with this
camera.

NOTES:
• The frame rate and quality for all four camera sensors (heads) must be set to the
same value.
• AV8180 and AV8360 do not have a configuration Web page.
• AV8180 and AV8360 do not support in-camera motion detection. Using Integral
motion detection at 1600 x 1200 resolution can significantly reduce the performance
of the Digital Sentry system. To use Integral motion detection, it is recommended
that you select 800 x 600 resolution.
• AV8180 camera input numbers are not in the same order as their physical locations
on the camera.
